Family Giving Fund (Donor Advised Fund)
A Family Giving Fund is a particularly effective way for financially blessed Christians to achieve their philanthropic goals. All that is needed is to establish a donor advised fund with an experienced philanthropic planner and then name your fund as the charitable beneficiary in your Trust, Will, gift annuity or other planned gift. Once the gift fund is set-up you designate who the initial benefiting charities are. If you want to change the charitable beneficiaries later on you can do so by a simple letter without incurring the cost of changing the estate plan documents.
The work of administering the gift fund is handled by a third party administrator, with the donor and their family getting to decide which charities to annually support through the fund. With a Family Giving Fund you can involve your family in a tradition of philanthropy and teach them the important lesson of “giving back” to the Christian charities that spiritually enriched you during your lifetime.
Including a planned gift in one’s estate plan is an important part of making a faithful finish. Every Christian has been blessed with material possessions that are entrusted to their care. When that fateful time comes as you journey in this life draws to an end, faithful Christians should find a way to make a planned gift which returns a portion of their financial blessing to support the Lord’s work.
